Beanie Boys
For about 2 years, I have been teaching a young adult bass student on the autism spectrum. About a year ago, his friend who is a guitarist joined our lesson time for group lessons. The bass student is very enthusiastic about The Eagles and music of the 60s and 70s. On the other hand, the guitar student loves 80s hair metal bands and the blues. In February 2024, they both asked me if we could record an album. Fortunately, I had just completed a course in electronic music, but aside from that my only experience with mixing and producing was an amateur high school rap album. I said we could do the album and over the span of 9 months, we slowly churned out these 5 tracks.
The entire album was done on Logic Pro X and all drums were programed within the software. I did a few bass overdubs and the mixing, but everything else was my students. There was some creative "tension" at times. My bass student really wanted to do covers of the entire Wings discography (even though he couldn't play any of it), and my guitar student wanted every track to be an old man blues. By the end, we struck a sound that everyone was happy with.
